Business Objective:

Optima Fantasy Sports engaged Mindfire to build a responsive web application for creating optimized daily fantasy lineups for use in daily fantasy sports contests. Optima had previously engaged another local consulting company to build their website and application, but was disappointed at both the cost and quality of the resulting end product. They tasked Mindfire with a complete rebuild and were overwhelmed by the quality, efficiency and low cost of the rebuild. The application needed to use complex data algorithms to evaluate players and player matchups in order to build a tool that was smarter than humans.

Challenges:

• Optima had already created several key partnerships in the industry, and this application needed to impress!
• The user interface needed to be very intuitive for the casual and power user.
• The application had to be built responsively so that users could build lineups from any desktop, tablet or mobile device.
• The data and algorithms had to be perfect!

Solution:

We used .NET, SQL Server, Bootstrap and Angular to build most of the application. The web pages are all responsive and scale to fit whatever device the user chooses; even the lineup optimizer itself scales down for use on mobile devices. The web design and overall visual appeal was spot-on and has already gained positive reviews from some of the industry's biggest players. The algorithms for optimizing lineups are a thing of beauty. From detailed analysis of each individual player, matchup analysis for each day's games and the progressively iterative optimization tool, the results are nothing short of amazing!
